Redwood Letters came about when Previs and I began playing music together and planning a 2 month road trip across the states and canada to discover the west coast. We decided we needed a name to call ourselves as both a band as well as a couple blogging together as travelling buddies.

For a wee bit of a background:
I'm a 21 year old girl from Cambridge, Ontario. Music has always been one of the most important things in my life, I've played drums for about 8 years and acoustic guitar for about 3 and just started singing over the past few months. I started dating Previs in March and he's been the most amazing man I've ever met.... lame but true. We've been friends for years and years and started planning a road trip together before we began dating, and the time has finally come!

Tuesday morning we'll be leaving for our quest to the west. The plan is to spend as little as possible and see as much as we can. To do this we'll be sleeping in Previs' Mazda 3 whenever we can, and buying expired things on sale at grocery stores.
I'll let Previs post about where we're going and the states we'll be in etc, because he's in charge of that and I'm directionally challenged.

We've set this up in order to keep friends and family (aka. our moms) updated on our whereabouts and to share our stories so they don't miss us too much, but maybe we'll get famous or something.

Thanks for reading and I hope we can entertain you with our crazy experiences that are yet to be had.

Redwood Letters began months, and maybe even years ago when Rachel and I both picked up a guitar and started writing what we now think are shitty love songs. Somewhere along the way we found eachother, in music, in friendship, and in love.
Im a tattooed musical adventurer, with a passion for poetry and the epic outdoors. Ive lived in Burlington Ontario for all my life, and I love it here, but travelling, most notably in a road trip style, will always be one of my greatest passions.
Embarking on a two month journey with someone who also has 11 keys, impeccable taste in music, and pretty much thinks the same thing at the same time, may be, well, like travelling with yourself. Which will be some kind of entertaining!
This trip will take us through some of the most gorgeous places on our continent,  and see us experiencing nature at its finest, together. Although I have done my share of exploring in the west, I cannot be more excited to travel and experience it with someone Ive come to love, trust, respect, and cherish every moment in just being. Chris Mcandless said it best when he wrote "happiness is only real when shared."
So I wish the best to whoever is sharing in this journey with us, may you find your own adventures and passions equally satisfying.
